Interior Designing For A Reception Room

March 16th, 2010 by Sarah K Howarth No comments »

An office is always designed according to the nature of the business. Its decoration plays a vital role in keeping every member of staff focused on his/her work. An office should not have dull or boring interior design. Some businesses like marketing require refreshing surroundings, as marketing is all about creativeness and modernization. Employees cannot give their best in a congested surrounding; therefore a dazzling interior design is essential for keeping the business ahead of its time.

The first place one encounters when one steps into an office is the reception area. This place sets the tone of the visitors. The moment you see the reception room of an office, you can define the office environment in no time. The reception room is a place where your guests come to visit you, your customers come to discuss any queries, and your clients come to discuss business matters; therefore, it needs to be decorated in a respectable and a reasonable way.

The first consideration in designing the reception area is dependent on the number of people that the company expects will visit their offices daily. The design of the reception room depends on the area available and the area required. This is something an interior designer has to take into consideration. They also have to project future expected traffic.

Your reception room should have a sleek and stylish table. It can be rectangular or circular, depending on how big an area you want and how much space do you have. The reception table should be maintained on day to day basis. It needs to be clean and should have all the necessary items required by your customers.

The reception room should have enough lighting. It should not be too bright or too dull. As per the requirements, you reception room should be well-lit, because lighting helps in creating an ambience and environment.

Many companies prefer female receptionists because of their pleasing and lovely dealings with people rather than males. However, gender is not an issue. Reception officer can be male or female, but whoever it is, should be experienced and have a charming personality to win the hearts of customers by their dealings. Reception officers are the first to attend any client, therefore they should be wearing decent clothes and should have the ability to communicate well with the people.

Furniture in the reception room should be trendy as it is the basic requirement of reception room. Seating arrangements should be relaxing and sufficient; it’s very odd to find clients standing because of unavailability of chairs. Reception officer should be attentive and problem-solving towards small issues like seating- arrangements to maintain the reputation of the company.

Organizations want to make sure that visitors are welcomed in their office and want to provide them with a comfortable environment. Companies that have a lot of people visiting daily want their visitors to be in a congenial mood before they meet whom they have any business with. Children hospitals also have a special play area to keep children occupied while they wait. The design and functionality of a reception room requires a lot of thought and planning. The two most important factors in the design of the reception area is how much will it be used, average time people will be waiting in it and of course the business the organization conducts.

The use of fake wood is also popular for vertical blinds. These window blinds work with PVC and other hard materials to create natural looking blinds. They can come in colors similar to that of other fake wood materials. This helps to get them to mix well with other items. It is also very easy to clean these blinds and they will not warp.

Another popular option to use for your blinds is Mylar. It works as a polyester film. It will create a slight shine in an area when installed. This can be useful for helping to add detail to any type of room.

You can even use perforated blinds to let some light in. These are window blinds that work with microscopic holes in each panel. These holes are ones that will work to get some light through. Various things should be seen with all of these options for vertical blinds. It helps to see how these window blinds can roll along. Some can work in a left to right rolling form or the other way around. Some can work by being pulled from the center.

The size that you use is also important to see. The panel length from top to bottom is important to watch for. The blinds should be able to fit the vertical length of the windows without too much excess length. The panels can be thick in different levels as well. Thicker options will keep a greater amount of light out.

Finally there is the safety involved. If a string is used for controlling the blinds the string should be tucked up high in the blinds. This is to help keep a child or pet from choking on the string. A control wand can be used on many blinds to correct this concern. The wand should still be high up enough to where a child will not try to pull on it.

These are all things to watch for in vertical blinds. These window blinds can work with many builds. All of these builds can be handled with different types of sizes and mechanisms. Each can work with its own benefits too.

The designs have to be framed within the regulatory requirements, encouraging the principles of being eco-friendly.

Designing an interior is not a simple and easy task to accomplish. It requires a systematic and coordinated approach. This objective is achieved with the balance research, analysis and addition of knowledge into a creative process. This method is further evolved with the help of the vision and demands of the client about the interior of the place.

There are many disciplines such as architecture, product design, and most of all, the environmental physiology, which influence the interior design. With the passage of time, the trends in the interior design also keep on changing. There are some external and internal forces, which are responsible for the change. One of the most influential external factors is the media.

There are mainly two types of media; print media and visual media. Interior magazines present vast options regarding the interior of the building. There are a large number of fashion magazines as well. These have a separate interior design corner. World renowned designers publish their advertisement in the magazines. Thus, they easily approach the decorator of their own choice.

The designs influence the demands of people. If they opt to refurnish their house or office, they consult the advertisements in the magazines. The alluring designs enable them to think of a beautiful living place. On the basis of the sketch, they visualize the whole interior of the house. In this way, they become more specific and clear about their demands.

Print media and electronic media are different from each other in many ways. They are used to influence the taste and the demands of people. There are many programs on the electronic media that allow you to discover your own creativity and in making your own ideas about things. They also impart the nature of the technicalities involved. The interior of the house is totally dissimilar form the interior of an office. These programs are great tutors for you to learn these things without formally enrolling in any classes or schools.

The glamour shown in the media has a great influence on people. We often want to have the same things we see in a movie or on TV. It has made the interior a symbol of the social status. People idealise what they see in media.

Moreover, people always idealise the belongings of their dear super stars. Their living places, shown in the television, greatly influence them. Like everything else, the interior of a celebrity home becomes the fashion of the time. They demand their decorators to create a living place similar to that of their ideals. Visual media is somewhat prior to the print media. Visualizing any interior design reveals their demand to them. Thus, almost every new thing is introduced by or through the media.

Shower Curtains – Bringing Beauty to a Bathroom

March 15th, 2010 by Timothy E. Vera No comments »

Shower curtains have the practical functions of giving privacy to those taking showers and preventing water from splashing all over the bathroom. However, as the largest single item in a bathroom, they also have important decorative functions and various kinds need special care. Consumers ought to consider all these points and be informed prior to purchasing them.

Shower curtains are suspended from the ceiling or from a railing set up about seven to eight feet from the floor of the bathroom. These curtains are typically set up so that they fall inside of the bath tub or the shower enclosure. The reason for this is to have the water hit the curtain and drain off into the tub or shower area to ensure that the bathroom does not get wet.

Some curtains are produced from fabrics such as cotton and other absorbent materials, but these shower curtains should be dried frequently. The much better option is to use curtains made from water proof material such as vinyl, plastic or rubber.

No matter what material the curtains are made of, they have to be occasionally dried out or else they develop molds which are adverse to great health.

These curtains come in many colors and styles so one never needs to worry about not being able to discover a ideal curtain. Everything from translucent to completely opaque curtains could be found depending on one’s tastes. With so numerous colors and designs to select from, there’s no need to worry about having to paint a bathroom to match a curtain. There’s no doubt of being able to find a curtain to match the bathroom dcor.

Normally shower curtains require special rails set up in order for them to become easily removed and replaced. The rails offer a sliding mechanism for the curtains and a way to effortlessly hook them up or take them down when they’re being dried or discarded for newer ones. The system is typically to string up new shower curtains utilizing the hooks stitched into the curtains with the hoops permanently set up on the shower curtain rail.

The rail might be specially designed to take the shape from the bath tub in order for the curtains to much better fall within the bath tub or the shower room. Sometimes shower doors or shower screens are utilized in place of curtains, but these are permanent fixtures and not as versatile or attractive as curtains that can even be changed to match the seasons!

Vertical Blinds Have Two Different Mounting Styles

March 15th, 2010 by Jesita Jerik No comments »

If you have decided to buy some vertical blinds make sure from the beginning what will be needed before you go out and purchase these blinds for your home.

Before purchasing your vertical blinds it is always a smart thing to know what the exact measurement is of your window or door. Then you should be able to find out if they are standard or need to be special ordered

Once your vertical blinds are in and you have brought them home for installation make sure you have specific tools and hardware items in order to be able to successfully install your window blinds.

Important tools that will be needed to install your blinds are the following: measuring tape that can be metal or made of wood, a screw driver that has a flat head, some finishing nails and a hammer, a drill that has what is called a hex head bit that is one quarter inch in size, a level to make sure everything is straight and even, scissors for trimming of cord if needed, wall anchors for dry wall and two other drill bits one that is one sixteenth and the other being three sixteenth of a inch you also will need to have a pencil handy.

The blind hardware should be wall brackets, mounting screws, mounting clips, nuts, bolts, louvers and headrail, chain with a clip and a cord with a weight.

There are two common types of mounts for vertical blinds one would be an inside mount the other outside. Make sure that you know which type you have before starting your installation.

You will not need the mounting brackets if you are installing blinds that have inside mounts. Remove the brackets from your blinds, keeping the screws and throw the brackets away. You then need to keep the mounting clips for the window blinds and tighten the screws.

Now you are going to need mark both the valance and the area around the window. To mark the frame you need to hold the valance up over the frame itself and make sure it is the width of the valance that you mark. Where you have marked the width make sure to measure out an inch from the wall and make marks, this becomes the depth. Then you will need to center it by putting the clip over the third groove, which is about four inches from the end.

Put valance up and line the back of it with the marks for the depth. After this drill holes where the mounting marks have been made. Remember to use wall anchors if you are hanging the blinds on dry wall. Now, screw the screws into the clips, valance and the windowsill.

Now you are ready to snap the headrail into place. After you have done that you can place a screwdriver between the headrail and the release tab to drop the blinds.

Outside mounting vertical blinds are done just a little differently than the inside mounting type. Start by measuring the length of your louvers and marking the height on your wall by adding two inches to the overall length of the lovers. Now you can center the headrail of the blinds by placing the headrail where you have your wall markings, you will now need to make a two inch mark that is made about four inches in from each end. Make sure marks for the brackets are evenly spaced.

Now hold the bracket sup to the two-inch marks and mark where the mounting holes should go. Then drill the holes making sure to install wall anchors if you are drilling into dry wall. Now you will take the mounting brackets and screw them in securing using two screws for each.

Before snapping in the headrail make sure that all of the screws are screwed in tight, then you can add the headrail. Now take your screwdriver and place it between the headrail and the release tab.

You need to attach each louver individually to what is called the stem slot. Push the louver up into the slot and then pull back down securing the louver. Note that if the louvers are cloth; make sure that all hem sides face the same direction.

For safety purposes the cord should have a cord weight fastened to it and secured to the wall. For the inside mount the cord should be fastened towards the back of the sill.

If the cord is too long you can adjust it and tie a knot where you want it to end and then cut off the excess cord and discard.

Many readers may desire to find out more about vertical blinds, and may visit Jesita Jerik’s web store to choose the best window blinds for their needs and save money at the same time.

Using Curtains To Decorate

March 14th, 2010 by Lilith McGavin No comments »

People have been using blinds for a very long time now. Homeowners everywhere are deciding to take off the blinds and style their windows with curtains. There are several different reasons for transferring from blinds to curtains; expense is less for curtains, more choices to make, can be made from hand, and easy to take care of.

Most people feel that blinds are just too much of a hassle to clean. While a curtain you can just take down and get dry cleaned or even throw into the washing machine. Blinds need to be hand cleaned and you need to clean each section or it will only continue to look dirty.

Another aspect about choosing curtains is that they are far less expensive than blinds. Custom blinds can be costly but curtains can be very cheap, especially if you buy them from a discount store and they are ready made. If you choose custom draperies, you will find that they could turn out to be more expensive than blinds. But most people today are getting away from heavy, custom drapes and seeking out lighter curtains.

If you make the curtains yourself, you can save even more money. Making curtains is not difficult to do. You can even make them out of bed sheets if you choose. Making curtains only involves using a straight stitch on the sewing machine. There are no-sew ways to make curtains as well, such as using an iron on basting technique. No sew curtains are easy to make; you just need to use the iron on basting tape to create the seam.

You have so many choices to decide on. You can decide what material to use, what color or colors to use, and whether you want lined or unlined curtains. You can sew your curtains together or you can choose a no sew pattern to create the look for your curtains. You can match your curtains with a focal point in your room. It may be your sofa or a rug down on your floor. Find a color that stands out the most and highlight that color in curtains.

There many other reasons why decorating with curtains is a far better alternative to decorating with blinds. Curtains are easy to make even if you are a novice with the sewing machine and they can pull together the decorating elements of any room. Whether you choose to use no sew curtains, make your own curtains or if you buy ready made curtains, you will find that you save money on these window coverings when compared to blinds.

Home Decorating experts all agree that it is essential to use area rugs. And as discussed here one of the most popular ranges is the solid color rugs.

Vertical Blinds For Every Taste

March 13th, 2010 by Jerikat Jennison No comments »

Vertical blinds can match everything in your home. No matter how formal the room is, or how casual, you’ll be able to find the perfect style and color.

Vertical window blinds have been around for over sixty years and they have never lost their popularity. When they were first introduced, they made a major style improvement in many urban and suburban homes as wives by the hundreds threw out their old roller shades and installed these new blinds that looked better and allowed more light to shin through.

They come in many materials from plastic to bamboo, but the plastics are the most common. They are the lowest price and the easiest to clean. Households with pets and kids will usually choose these, if only in common areas and the kids’ rooms.

Cleaning is easy. A regular dusting with specially designed long arm dusters makes it simple. For dirt, grime, and even simple finger prints, clean up is a breeze with a few squirts of any common household cleaner, or even a damp cloth. Staining is virtually impossible.

Expensive custom made vertical window blinds tend to have material attached to a plastic backing. The material is something attached before it is delivered. If the product has been ordered along with professional installation, final assembly might not occur until the installers are preparing to put them up.

Any blinds with real material will need special cleaning solution. Some just can’t be cleaned well at all. Many come with their own bottle of solution. Before trying to remove dirt or spots, try a little on an inconspicuous area just in case the color does come out. Always ask the store where you bought them for cleaning tips. Almost all vertical window blinds in this category come with cleaning instructions and if you don’t follow these instructions, you may be voiding the warranty.

Depending on the size of the window (or door), you will usually have options on how you want them to open. For narrower openings you most likely will be limited to choices of a right or left draw, and the choice of a pulley cord or a wand (that thing that opens and closes each slat to control how much light is let in.) Larger areas such as patio doors will probably allow you to have a middle opening. In other words, when you pull them to open, they will come apart in the middle instead of one of the far reaching corners.

Many come with valances. For blinds that are being installed ‘inside’ the window frame, the valance is identical to the rest of the blinds and serves no other function than to cover the ugly top where the draw chain is seen. For blinds that are installed externally from the window frame, the valances will coordinate with the color scheme of the vertical window blinds themselves. In any case, you can always put up a valance of your choice.

If you are considering vertical window blinds for the first time, you might want to have them installed. These are quite different from hanging curtains and shades and frequently you will need odd tools and plenty of help in getting them adjusted correctly.

If you want to find savings on about vertical blinds, then visit Jerrikat Jennison’s site for beautiful and high quality window blinds for your needs.
