The Pros And Cons Of Using Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds, also known as Track blinds, have their own set of pros and cons. Depending on the style that the buyer is trying to bring to his or her house or the commercial establishment, he or she may favor a particular type of blind.
Whether the buyer favors the horizontal or vertical decor goes a long way in determining which type of blind he or she will eventually use. Like drapes and curtains, the vertical types of blinds also flow from the upper portions of the doors and windows to the bottom. Dust particles that settle very easily in drapes and curtains because they are generally made of fabric are much less likely to stick to this blind type. It makes for easier cleaning of the window blinds than drapes and curtains as they do not have to be taken down when extreme cleaning becomes due.
In case such blinds get damaged for any reason, they are very to replace. There is no need to replace to entire blind. A number or interior decor stores sell replacement blinds to replace the vertical section that got damaged.
One of the big advantages of this type of blind is coverage. The amount of surface in terms of height it is able to cover makes it a healthy option. It prevents UV rays from entering into a room. Besides coverage it also provides a great unobstructed view of the outside. When used to cover the huge sliding back yard door, it becomes immediately clear that it is very easy to use as well as it not required to open the entire blind and yet have complete access to the height of the door thereby making it easier and quicker to move out into the open.
Taller windows that have more height than width are ideal to be covered such vertical types of blinds. Even small windows benefit! They look bigger than they actually are because the height of the blind covers the wall the window as well.
Noise can be a big deterrence for such blinds for some though. These window blinds open with a swinging action and the vertical columns collide to make more noise than desirable to some people. There is great wear and tear as a result of that motion. Even a small wind causes the blind columns to collide with each other and create some annoying noise levels for some of us.
There is also an issue about privacy with these window blinds. At the ends of such blinds there can be gaps between the blind and the edge of the window or door. As a result of that, light rays may enter and users may not experience a completely dark room. Or, the gap may allow outsiders to peek into the inside of the room when utmost privacy may be needed. Horizontal blinds tend to stick to the ends of the windows more closely thereby provided more privacy and not also allowing light rays to enter from the edges.
In general, every type of blind has its own set of pros and cons. Whether to choose vertical blinds versus other solutions is dependent on the style the buyer is looking for. To some extent, the height and width of the windows and doors in the house or the commercial establishment will also influence the decision for or against the type of blind that finally gets chosen.
